I always found phenolphthalein indicator to be the most easy to vizualize with regards to endpoints. Its acidic form is colourless. Its basic form is pink (or fuchsia if you have ever seen the pretty flower).
Carbon dioxide is an acidic oxide. Hydrogen bromide is of course a strong acid. Methanol does not display acid/base behaviour in water.
