# How is the reaction between Cu^(2+) and hydroxide ion represented?

$C {u}^{2 +} + 2 H {O}^{-} \rightarrow C u {\left(O H\right)}_{2} \left(s\right) \downarrow$
Often these heavy metal hydoxides are are better formulated as hydrous oxides, i.e. $C u O \cdot {H}_{2} O \left(s\right)$; they are very insoluble beasts.
