In summer months, polar regions will experience very long days or even no nights (at the extreme pole). This is because even as the Earth rotates throughout a day, the poles are constantly receiving the sun's rays and daytime is much longer than nights.

In winter months, the opposite happens. The polar regions experience long nights and short days.

In terms of the extent of seasonal variation, maximum variation is seen at around 25 deg N and S of the equator at the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. However, the polar regions can still have a significant variation in seasons, as compared to the tropics near the equator.
