I believe you are referring to Hadley, Ferrel and Polar cells.

Explanation:

If these convective currents stopped, there would be a lot less circulation and a lot less storms. Temperatures would become much more extreme. The equatorial and tropical regions might get too hot to support life, and the polar regions would get even colder.

Since in order for these currents to stop, ALL convection would have to stop. This means no upward motion of air, so all major storms would not happen ever. No hurricanes and no thunderstorms.

Since it is really no way that I can think of for these cells to stop, it is difficult to think of what all would happen.
