Will hydrochloric acid oxidize the aluminum foil we use in the kitchen?

Tinfoil is aluminium foil:

#Al(s) + 3HCl(aq) rarr AlCl_3(aq) + 3/2H_2(g)uarr#

Note that a lot of modern aluminum foils have some sort of dressing on the sheets; sometimes you can wipe this off, but when you do the reaction, often you notice the reaction occurs at a cut surface.

Of course you have not specified the concentration of the acid.
