A dog have grown to trust humans while most wolves are scared and much less domesticated.

Explanation:

Wolves canine teeth are much bigger and can crush bones. Wolves shed once a year. While dogs shed hair almost each day, wolves are quite the contrary. Wolves do not have blue eyes. If you see a wolf with blue eyes, it is not fully wolf. Also, dogs tails always curl in a way. Even straight tailed dogs have a slight curl while wolves tails are straight.

Domestication

Explanation:

Both dogs and wolves belong to the Genus Canis and the Species lupus. This includes most wolf species, dingoes and domesticated dogs. They are, however, all different subspecies. Since they are all the same species they can interbreed and the offspring will all be Canis lupus.

The main difference between a dog and a wolf is that dogs are domesticated and wolves are not. Generally this leads to different instincts and behaviors.
