Preparation
- Acidify to convert inorganic carbon to
"CO"_2 - Bubble an inert gas through the water to remove the
"CO"_2 - Filter through a 0.45 µm filter to remove suspended solids
Oxidation
- Oxidize organic carbon to
"CO"_2 with persulfate in a UV-irradiated chamber
Analysis
- Measure the IR absorption of the
"CO"_2" - Report the organic carbon as mg/L or ppm TOC.
