Rotations preserve distances: this can be easily shown by either calculating it out long hand or simply by observing that it simply does not change lengths.
Assume that it is being rotated by #theta#. Then the new coordinates from #(x,y)# will be #(xcos(theta)+ysin(theta),-xsin(theta)+ycos(theta))#. Then simply use Pythagoras’ Theorem.
