A reoccurring example of an an object, person or idea.

Explanation:

In literature, an archetype can be a "typical character, action or situation that seems to represent universal human nature." Examples of literary archetypes include The Hero, the main protagonist of the story who fights for good, or The Fall, where the main character's life starts to decline because of the consequences of their actions.

The Jungian archetype is from psychology and was developed by Carl Jung. He said that " Archetypes represent fundamental human motifs of our experience as we evolved" , and that they "reside within the collective unconscious of people the world over." Jung said that 12 universal archetypes lived in the collective unconscious, and his works have inspired pyschology to this day.
