The Nazi regime was extremely violent and based on political repression, the regime quickly forbade the Communist Party and shortly after the Social Democratic Party was forbidden as well. Their members were deported to concentration camps.

Jews were of course the first targets and the Nuremberg laws deprived them of all basic rights, they had to wear the yellow star, their stores were boycotted. Eventually they were rounded up, deported and even exterminated.

The economy revived under Hitler's regime to such an extent that full employment was back and the standards of living rose considerably. The nightmare of the early 30s was over. The state had a certain control over the economy even though its grip was not as strong as in the Soivet Union.

Nazi Germany was a totalitarian state which means that all basic liberties were completely prohibited, only one party and one labor union were legal.Censorship affected the press and all medias whereas a gigantic propaganda was used by the regime in order to maintain its hegemony.
