The muscle of the small intestine mix food (makes digestion easier) that was digested and sent from the stomach. There is an enzyme called lipase. Lipase helps to break down proteins into small polypeptides, because proteins are large molecules they cannot not be directly absorbed into the blood.

After this, it gets absorbed through the wall of the intestine into the blood. The wall has a structure called villi that is very thin, long and surrounded with blood capillaries. The fact that it is thin and long allows absorption to happen efficienly and quickly. We know that blood capillaries carry the digested food into the blood and transport to the other parts of the body.
