Variation is important for evolution. It occurs during sexual reproduction.


In points:-

  1. It helps in better survival of an organism.
  2. Accumulation of a particular variation over time leads to speciation.
  3. Variation results in genetic drift where same species are distanced.
  4. The useful variations are passed on to the next generation which is necessary for adaptation of an organism.
