Confucius believed that it would help improve a person's personality.

He never thought learning should stop when a person has attained a level of satisfaction. In a modern day example; when someone has finished college, they shouldn't stop the process of learning as such. Learning doesn't only mean what you read in books or learn from school. Simple manners and habits are also included. Learning these values and virtues make a person better.

His teachings mainly revolved around social relations, justice, morality in governments, etc. All these must comprise of individuals who are well educated, bright and thus have a personified character. Hence this leads to a better community.
