Philosophically to answer the questions about the origin of life and a biogenesis.

Explanation:

Cell theory says that life comes from life because living cells come only from living cells. This has been proven repeatedly by empirical experiments and evidence.

The materialistic philosophy and the theory of descent with modification says the all present life came from a common ancestor or small number of common ancestors most likely some form of a single celled organisms. The question is where did the first cell (s) come from?

To answer that question from a purely naturalistic frame work (material realism) requires a modification of cell theory. Some cell must be postulated to have come from something non living. This requires a modification of cell theory as it has been historically understood.
