As with all molecular diagram, this is a representation. Of course, we know that the ALL the C-C bonds are equivalent, and clearly we can draw the other resonance isomers; can we?

And this today's preferred configuration, a circle within a hexagon. This really is a matter of personal preference. Most organic chemists would prefer the former.
