Enzymes reduces the time taken for the reaction to complete by lowering the activation energy .

Explanation:

Enzymes do not take part in any reactions, they just increase the rate by reducing the activation charge and remain unchanged till end of the reaction.

Whether an isomer would fit or not

Explanation:

Each enzyme binds to their substrates in a specific way. These substrates have certain properties, like their shape and the groups they contain. Consider the enzyme in the image below:

This enzyme, L-Alanine oxidase catalyzes the reaction for L-Alanine. This means that the shape of the enzyme is tailored to accomodate L-Alanine.
I i were to present this enzyme with D-Alanine, no reaction would take place. Why is that?
This D-Alanine would not fit in the enzyme. This means that the enzyme can't bind this substrate and it is unable to catalyze this reaction as a result.

You can imagine this from a human perspective. Just take a scissor for left handed people and try to use it with your right hand. It would be possible in our case, but it would feel awkward, it doesn't fit right.
