I got that definition from http://www.dictionary.com/browse/anatomy, and here is another one from Merriam Webster :

These are good defintions and all, but they don't tackle the real meat of anatomy.
Anatomy is a study of organisms and their bodies, questioning what their structure looks like and how these structures affect each other. Anatomy is often studied along with Physiology, and is concerned with providing a map of organisms as they are studies. Anatomy can be divided into two sub-topics; Macroscopic and Microscopic . The Macroscopic is concerned with all those structures visible by the naked eyes, which includes bones, muscles, organs, flesh, blood and more. The Microscopic looks at all those structures which must be magnified to be seen. These include muscle fibers, nerves and neurons, skin tissue, muscle tissues and the cells these structures are made of.
