Explanation:

Same star is viewed from two places at time difference of 6 months..Earth travels around 300 million kilometers i n 6 months..We wil,l see the position of star have shifted by parallax.
Now the angle is measured and we know the base of triangle as 300 million kilometers enter image source here Now using trigonometry you can calculate the distance.
