It is beneficial to the consumer because the milk does not carry diseases.

Explanation:

Bacteria are everywhere carried by air currents. The Bacteria can grow in the milk. The growth of bacteria can spoil the milk making it difficult or impossible to sell. No one wants to purchase sour milk.

The bacteria can be present in the milk without or before causing it to spoil. The living bacteria in the milk can be ingested by the consumer. The bacteria ingested can make the consumer sick, causing diseases.

Pasteurization kills bacteria without ruining the milk. This benefits the producer by preventing the spoiling of his product. This benefits the consumer by protecting the consumer from disease.
