Explanation:

Prior to the plough seeds were scattered on the bare packed earth - the plough allowed the soil to be broken and turned prior to the seed being planted which gave a better germination and success rate for all crops

It meant that the production rate of food was vastly enhanced and allowed one farmer to grow more than he personally needed which allowed both trade and specialization of trades
