Fossil evidence, homologies, similarities in ontogeny, molecular evidence, & geographic distribution are some of the most powerful examples of evidence for evolution.

Evolution involves changes in allele frequencies within populations over time. These changes may or may not result in the formation of new species. The ability to read an organisms genome has greatly enhanced our understanding of the molecular evidence supporting evolution. Molecular evidence provides some of the most powerful evidence of change that can be directly observed. We can directly measure and observe allele frequencies changing from generation to generation.
