What happens to carbohydrates in the phloem?
In higher plants vascular system consists of 2 complex tissues, i.e. xylem and phloem.
Xylem is concerned with conduction of water and mineral salts to all the parts of the plant from the soil.
Phloem is concerned with conduction of carbohydrates from the green cells which contain chloroplasts to all the non-green parts of the plant.
