The nerve clusters of hypothalamus produce many releasing and inhibiting hormones.

Examples:

  • Hypothalamus produces somatotrophin releasing factor #(SRF)# which stimulates the anterior lobe of pituitary gland to produce somatotrophin hormone#(STH)#.
  • Similarly, hypothalamus releases thyrotrophin releasing factor #(TRF)# which stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete thyroid stimulating hormone #(TSH)#.
