Cell uses exocytosis to transport different substances to the exterior by the fusion of vesicles with the plasma membrane. These substances may be hormones, wastes, enzymes etc. So, exocytosis helps cell to get rid of wastes as well as to perform specific functions.
Endocytosis helps the cell to engulf the vital substances by infolding of cell-membrane in the form of vesicles. Because, many important molecules can't get entry into the cell because of the lipid-bilayer of plasma membrane. So, Endocytosis is important mainly for nutrition of a cell. In other words, it's necessary for survival of the cell.
