Filter out the sand, then boil the water to get the salt. Lastly, just cool down your container, and the water will re-condense.


The key concept to recognize here is that the sand and salt have different solubilities in water. Salt dissolves almost completely, but sand does not. You can use this fact to your advantage to separate out the compounds.
