Cell membrane would become fragile, it would split apart and ultimately cell would die.

Explanation:

The animals' plasma membranes, contain cholesterol as an essential component to maintain their fluidity and stability. Cholestrol binds to the hydrophobic phospholipid tails packing them more closely together and thus limiting their movement. So without cholestrol, plasma membrane no more remain flexible and could fall apart.

Another salient feature of Cholestrol is: At higher temperature, the lipid-bilayer become more fluid(or leaky) then cholestrol makes the cell membrane less permeable to water soluble molecules. Thus it prevent plasma membrane to become too permeable and too fluid.
