Do you speak of the fermentation of sugars to make alcohol...?

Explanation:

#C_6H_12O_6(aq) stackrel("yeast")rarr2H_3C-CH_2OH + 2CO_2(g)uarr#

I have represented the sugar here as glucose, but ANY sugar is fermentable....grains can be fermented to gives beers, apples and pears to give ciders, and perries, and of course grape juice may be fermented to give vinoes.

The product may be distilled to increase the alcoholic content....beers gives whiskies on distillation (and suitable!) aging; wines give brandies and grappas on distillation....
