Strawberry is less expensive.

Explanation:

2 1/2 or 5/2 pounds of apples cost $2.35.

1 pound of apples cost: 2.35*2/5 = 0.94
.
Now, 2 2/3 or 8/3 pounds of strawberries cost $2.50.
So, 1 pound strawberry cost: 2.50*3/8 = 0.9375.

Now, comparing their costs of 1 pounds i.e. $0.94 : $0.9375

Or, $0.9400 : 0.9375

The strawberries are cheaper.

Strawberries are marginally cheaper.

Explanation:

You cannot compare the given values because there are different masses bought.

Convert each to a cost per pound, then you can compare:

$ per pound is determined by dividing the Cost by the mass

APPLES:$2.35 for 2 1/2 pounds

2.35 div2.5 = color(blue)($0.94) per pound

STRAWBERRIES: $2.50 for 2 2/3 pounds

2 1/2 div 2 2/3

=5/2 div 8/3

= 5/2 xx3/8

= 15/16

=$0.9375 per pound

~~color(blue)($0.94) per pound

The prices are almost the same when we look at the rounded values, but strawberries are ever so slightly cheaper if you use the unrounded values.

$0.9375< $0.94
