Parietal cells or oxyntic cells

Explanation:

The inner layer of stomach i.e mucosa contain gastric glands. These gastric glands contain #3# types of cells: mucous cells, zymogen cells and oxyntic or parietal cells.

Among these parietal cells also known as oxyntic cells secrete #HCL# in concentrated form. Hydrochloric acid adjusts the #pH# of stomach contents ranging from #2-3# for pepsin to act on proteins. Besides this, it also softens the food and kill many microorganisms taken in along with the food.
