There are many things other than gravity that can cause an object to accelerate downward. One example is illustrated by thinking of a deer hunter in a tree with a bow and arrow. If a deer wanders by, the hunter can draw the bow and accelerate the arrow downward toward the deer.

By use of magnets or electric charge.

Explanation:

A magnetic surface with a North pole magnet will attract an object that has a South pole magnet. This has been shown in several science fiction space movies.

Also, a positively charged surface will attract a negatively charged object. This method was used in Millikin's oil drop apparatus which measured the charge of one electron. But he used both objects having a negative charge so as to counteract the pull of gravity.

There is no up or down with these methods in a weightless environment.
