a wound may be caused by through a cut, a fall, a burn etc. in anyway when you are wounded, it means a part of your skin is ruptured.

Explanation:

this part is open to air which carries numerous microorganisms. these organisms stick to our wounded skin. thus, while cooking may fall into the dishes and contaminate them.
