Villi are small parts of the human body which are mainly used for the digestion of food. They can be found in the small intestine, and look like long hairs. Here is a picture of one:

The job of the villi is to help the small intestine absorb nutrients from food that is passed through. They are specialised for this part. They are large in surface area, and are only a single cell thick. In a single villus, there exists around #600# microvilli to further increase the surface area of the villus for absorption of nutrients.

Some parts of the villi absorb different things. The lacteals of the villi absorbs fatty acids and glycerol. Then, the villi also has blood capillaries. This helps the villi to carry away the absorbed food molecules.
