So, one example is you push as hard as you can against a wall. No matter how hard you push, the wall doesn't move. So, no work is done.

Another is carrying an object at a constant height. The distance of the object from the ground doesn't change, so no work is performed

An example would be pushing a wall.


No matter how hard you push a wall, you are not doing work, as the wall is not moving. The work equation states that


Since the wall is not moving, then #d=0#, and therefore #vec(W)=0#, and so you are not doing any work.
