Explanation:

Chlorophyll pigment has chloroplasts in it which uses sunlight, #CO_2# and #H_2O# to form its food to provide itself with energy and this process is known as Photosynthesis.

The chemical reaction which takes place is as follows :-

#6CO_2 + 6H_2O +#( in the presence of Sunlight)
#rarr C_6H_12O_6 + 6O_2#
