It will be two layers. One will be very pale, and the other will be purple.

Explanation:

Iodine dissolves hardly in water, it will give a pale-brown solution. In a non-polar solvent it will appear purple/violet (depending on the concentration). Most of the #I_2# will move over to the TTE, so the water fraction will become much paler.
