Are our nails, hair and eyes made up from cells?

Not really. Our hair and nails are no longer considered cells as they are dead and are filled with keratin, a protein. The base of the hair shaft (bulb) is alive and growing.

Notice that the nail grows from the nail root. This root is similar to the hair root (bulb). You can cut your hair and nails and not cause damage or pain.

Our eyes are composted with living cells. The eye has three layers of eye tissue: the fibrous layer, the vascular layer, and the retina. Each of these layers performs a different function in helping a human see or forms a place for muscles to attach to.
