Yes, we can.
Explanation:
While most people are born with two functional kidneys, there are some who are born with one kidney, or have donated one to someone in need, or have had one removed surgically for reasons like accident, disease, etc and who live perfectly normal and healthy lives with one kidney.
While there is a possibility of loss of kidney function as the person ages, this is usually mild and not life-threatening.
Persons with one kidney would, of course, need to take care not to get it injured as far as possible and avoid conditions that could lead to nephritis. A regular annual checkup for kidney function is advisable.
