Consider table salt (NaCl) and water (H2O) how could you increase the rate of the salt dissolving in the water? (i.e) how can you change how fast it dissolves?

If you want to increase "the rate of dissolution of sodium chloride...", in fact "the rate of chemical reaction...."

Explanation:

NaCl(s) stackrel(H_2O)rarr Na^+ +Cl^-

...here there is only the ONE recourse...AND it is not HEATING the solvent...the reaction of sodium chloride to give solvated ions in water is fairly energy neutral. (It is very slightly ENDOTHERMIC). Sonication in an ultrasonic bath is also effective to get solute up into solution....

We could DECREASE the particle size of the sodium chloride, i.e. by grinding it up in a mortar, and this would effectively increase the rate of dissolution....
