Organelle = Specialized structure performing specific function.

Explanation:

Organelles are defined as specialized subunits of the cell that perform specific functions and are present within the cell.

Organelles can be membraneous or non-membraneous. The basic thing is that the cell assign specific task to each organelle present within it. And the organelle perform that particular job in so that a cell can carry out it's basic activities.

Some organelles along with their functions:

  • Nucleus (Membraneous) to Cell's brain . It stores genetic information, regulate almost all activities of cell including metabolism & growth.

  • Ribosomes (Non-membraneous) to Protein factories . Synthesize proteins. These proteins are vital for normal body functioning.

  • Mitochondria (Membraneous) to Power house of cell. The main role of mitochondria is to provide "ATP" in a process called cellular respiration. This "ATP" is energy currency for all the cellular activities salient to support life.

Hope it helps...
