Describe Athens: what immediately follows the Persian Wars?

1 Answer

Some historians believe that the final Greco-Persian Treaty between the Delian League and the Persian kingdom ended the Persian Wars (also collectively known as the Greco-Persian War).

Explanation:

This treaty is now called the Peace of Callias after (purportedly) the Athenian statesman Callias, who had negotiated with Xerxes #I#.
However, the existence of such a treaty is widely disputed, but a general agreement is that the Greco-Persian War faded off after the numerous Greecian city-states decided to withdraw after both sides suffered a few losses towards the end in skirmishes.

After the Persians (overall) lost the Greco-Persian War, the Delian League coalesced into the Athenian Empire, but soon began to fracture due to disputes over the lands captured, eventually leading to the Peloponnesian War.
