If it is a difference of two squares, it can expressed as product of two factors. Like #p^2 -q^2# is a difference of two squares and its factors are (p-q) and (p+q).

In other words the problem is to factorise #x^2 +4# the factors are obviously (x-2i) and (x+2i)
