Do you think Eisenhower was right to request that Great Britain, France, and Israel end their attack on Egypt during the Suez crisis?

There are arguments for and against.

Explanation:

The attack on Egypt was the result of an illegal secret agreement which was denied for two decades. It also reflected the outdated belief by European powers such as Britain and France that they were still imperial powers on the world stage. This would support the view that Eisenhower was right.

However set against this is the fact that Eisenhower's opposition could be interpreted not so much as opposition to imperialism but opposition to European imperialism as a threat to American imperialism which has been pursued in the Middle East ever since.
