Chiral and Achiral compound

Explanation:

Chiral Compound :- An asymmetric carbon atom (chiral carbon) is a carbon atom that is attached to four different types of atoms or groups of atoms, and the Compound called Chiral compound.

Properties of Chiral carbon :-
1. Chiral compound do not superimpose.
2. Plane of symmetry absent (so called asymmetric carbon).
3. Are optically inactive.

Examples :-

Lactic acid

Achiral compound:- A molecule is achiral if it is superimposable on its mirror image.

Properties of Achiral carbon:-
1. Can superimpose.
2. Have plane of symmetry.
3. Are optically active.
4. Gave stereo center called meso.
