Sub-duplicate ratio of any ratio is ( as the name suggests ) only partially duplicate.

For eg. 16:81 to 4:9

The sub-duplicate ratio of 16:81 is 4:9.

For the first few seconds you would think that 16/81 = 4/9

but this is actually wrong. This is how the name comes, the sub-

duplicate ration looks equivalent ( equal ) to the given ratio but is

actually very different thatn that of the given ratio.
