For paramecia during sexual reproduction how is the genetic material exchanged?

1 Answer

Most of the time, paramecia undergoes autogamy, but occasionally undergoes isogamy.

Explanation:

In the simplest way possible to explain this, isogamic paramecia fuse together in "nice" conditions (e.g.: The weather's pretty warm and comfy today!) and exchange micronuclei with each other. Afterwards, they separate and each edits their macronuclei to express any new alleles obtained from isogamy.
