In particular the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire gave rise to two new nations: the northern part of the Austrian side inhabited by Czechs joined the Slovaks from the Hungarian side to form Czechoslovakia; in the south the empire lost the part belonging to the Austrian side of the Empire and inhabited by Slovenians that, with the part inhabited by Croats from the Hungarian side, and the Serbs formed the Serb-Croat-Slovenian Reign, later indicated as Yugoslavia.
