Polynomials open up with a positive leading coefficient. The number of turns is one less than the degree.

Explanation:

So, for a) since it opens down and has one turn, it's a quadratic with a negative leading coefficient.

b) opens up and has 3 turns, so it's a 4th degree polynomial with a positive leading coefficient

c) is a little trickier. It has 2 turns so therefore it's a cubic equation. In this case, it has a leading positive coefficient because it starts in negative territory in Q3 and continues into positive in Q1. Negative cubics start in Q2 and continue into Q4.
