At the end of the second Boer War on May 31st, 1910, Britain gave South Africa it's independence. But a major problem lay ahead for South Africans:
In 1948, the South African Government run by Whites enacted a law called the Apartheid which legalized racial segregation against the Blacks(made into second-class citizen by the whites)...to this many leaders like Nelson Mandela with the African Nation Congress arose and protested against...until the law was finally rescinded in 1994
