They are technically not burning.

Explanation:

Stars do not burn like wood on a fire. There is no flame. Instead of calling a star a giant ball of flaming gas it should be called a giant ball of nuclear fusion.
In a star hydrogen atoms fuse with each other to form helium atoms. Nuclear fusion releases an incredible amount of energy, some of which is light which is why it appears that it is burning.
