In my opinion it cannot be proven.

Explanation:

The most common form of the multiverse theory is that there is some preexistent form of matter/energy. Our universe broke off of that chaos forming a bubble. Our bubble will burst and fall make into the chaos. There is no way to verify the theory because according to the theory our universe is completely separate now the preexistent matter/energy chaos .

Another multiverse theory is that our black holes are sending matter into another universe, and somewhere maybe there are "white holes" that create new universes. Again there is no means of empirical observations of the universes because they are separated from our universe.

The multiverse theory is not subject to empirical observations to either prove or disprove the theory. The theory is accepted because it fits an existing materialistic world view. The existing materialistic world view is threatened by the evidence from the supernova studies that our present universe will come to an end ( is not eternal or self existent) because the rate of expansion of the present universe is increasing.
